REUNION & MEDICAL CLINIC II — SUMMER 2023

Medical clinic II, summer 2023, at Hòa Thắng Parish
On 5 August 2023, the Medical Team held a reunion at Trại Lê to gather the scholarship recipients and the alumni now studying and working in every part of the country. It was an occasion for them to meet, to look back together on the road they have travelled, and to share with one another about their studies as well as their plans for the days ahead.
The reunion was attended by, and included talks from, Mr Hoan — Principal of Hà Tĩnh Medical College, Dr Lê Danh Vinh, advisory physician Dr Đậu Quang Liêu, Dr Tú Anh, and the doctors who are alumni of the scholarship. Together they shared the questions and difficulties of the medical field and pointed out possible directions after university for the scholarship recipients.
The scholarship's medical group welcomed new scholarship recipients: medical students with outstanding records in their studies as well as in social activities.
Through the presence of the advisory board and of the guests, together with the gathering of nearly 30 medical students who are scholarship recipients, the participants came to understand more deeply the field they are studying as well as the ideal they are pursuing. After the seminar, the Medical Team visited Hà Tĩnh Medical College, meeting people, getting acquainted and gaining a better understanding of the realities of the medical field.
Continuing the spirit of the first medical clinic programme, on 6 August 2023 the Our Lady of La Vang & Anthony Padua Scholarship carried out its second medical clinic programme at Hòa Thắng Parish, Diocese of Hà Tĩnh.
More than 35 doctors, pharmacists, nurses and technicians came from Hanoi Medical University Hospital, the Anton Sara Clinic, the Xã Đoài Clinic, Hà Tĩnh Provincial General Hospital and Hà Tĩnh City General Hospital, together with 40 volunteers who are medical scholarship recipients from medical and pharmacy universities across the country.
At the catechism school of Hòa Thắng Parish, the organisers arranged and divided the space into rooms to make the examinations easier: rooms for general examination, ultrasound and electrocardiography, rooms for internal medicine and surgery, rooms for paediatrics, odonto-stomatology, ophthalmology and more. Each examination room was staffed by one doctor and one medical scholarship recipient, to make examining and assisting the patients easier.
The clinic ran all day and saw more than 600 patients of every age, from the elderly to children, with hundreds of ultrasounds, electrocardiograms, ear-nose-throat endoscopies, thyroid and breast fine-needle aspirations and more, along with free distribution of medicine.
MLV-2011's second medical clinic and medicine distribution programme is the faith, the hope, the yearning and the hard work of a great many people. We sincerely thank Mr and Mrs Loan Hùng for sponsoring the programme, which allowed us to hold such a meaningful clinic. We also sincerely thank Dr Thanh Phạm — co-founder of the Medical Team — who has always yearned for this work and walked with us through the second clinic. Thank you for the sacrifice and commitment of the doctors and of the scholarship recipients and volunteers.
