Dreams and Choices

Reflections

Life is always full of dreams and choices, and those dreams are the driving force that carries us towards success in life. Indeed, there is no one in this life without a dream: the rich want to grow richer, the hungry want to eat their fill… And so life never stands still at one point; we must always strive to attain something better, to reach towards something more perfect.

Life is always changing, and with it society changes too. That has had no small effect on our own lives. Therefore, in order to keep pace with a society developing as it is today, we must know how to build up dreams and ambitions for ourselves and take them as the joy that fuels our striving. As for me, I have a dream of becoming an engineer in the future, and at present that dream is becoming a reality.

I am currently a first-year student majoring in Civil Engineering at Quy Nhơn University – Quy Nhơn University. I quietly hope that I will become a good engineer so as to devote my strength to society, and also in the hope of repaying my parents, my brothers and sisters, and everyone who has helped me.

Society changes ceaselessly, and so I always set goals for myself. In life, I will never stop learning in order to better myself and to build up the skills I need, especially the skills of my own profession. I always remind myself: “why can other people do” this and that, and what about me? So I will never stop enriching my knowledge, so that later I can find a brighter future for myself. Mine is a purely farming family with many children, and so my choice of this field also carries the hope that later I may be better placed to show filial gratitude to my parents and to help my brothers and sisters as well as other people.

There is a saying I always take to heart: “The most wretched person in this world is not the one without a penny in his pocket, but the one who cannot even have a dream.” Dreams, then, are truly necessary for weaving success in life; they also make life more meaningful and more interesting.
